Hey guys! So, I pinned this picture a while ago on Pinterest of this girl with an off the shoulder embroidered top and a tie up choker (bottom photo) and it inspired me to make one for myself (top photo). I got the faux suede cording from the dollar section at Target months ago...like possibly last summer, and I knew I wanted to use it to make a necklace, but I totally forgot about it. The denim I chose was from an old pair of black skinny jeans that were in a goodwill bag. I think this would also be really cute with lightwash denim and a camel or tan colored suede tie (if you guys end up making one send me a pic!).
What you need:
- Denim of your choice (you could also use whatever kind of material you wanted, but denim is really trending right now so I thought it would be fun to do!)
- Suede or faux suede cording (I used navy blue because I already had some)
- Scissors
Anyways, it's pretty self explanatory, nothing too fancy. I just cut a section off of the pant leg right above the ankle (if you have a thicker neck you may want to go up a little bit more), cut right in the middle of that section (vertically, to make it one long strip), then I cut off the excess messy looking denim to make it look more clean, then I cut 4 holes (6 would also look super cute)--2 on each side--of the ends of the strip by pinching the material and cutting a tiny slit with scissors....tip--if you keep the holes closer to the edges it lays a lot nicer on your neck, then I just threaded the cording like I was tying my shoes and that's it!! I am going to post affordable chokers that are ready to purchase for the not-so-crafty girls too! And some super cute embroidered tops to get the same look I was inspired by :)
If you are more of a visual person:

Cute Tiff!! I have been thinking lately how dumb $20 chokers are. Literally a single strand of suede? Can't wait to see more diy stuff!!
