DIY Pinterest-worthy dressing area

Pinterest Inspiration:

My Take:

Hey guys :) I am obsessed with home decor and being creative to make my house my own (my husband always rolls his eyes because I am always rearranging things in our house, but that's just the creative side in me!). I wanted to share a really easy and (can be) affordable way to create a pinterest-worthy dressing area. Our second extra bedroom is currently being used as my closet and get-ready room pretty much, so this is where I have my dressing area set up (the pictures I posted were actually in our living room because we are painting and the house is a bit of a cluster). However, you could totally put this in a corner in your bedroom or wherever you have space! It really doesn't take up much space and it's not only cute, but serves a purpose! If you are a clothes collector, like myself, you know that sometimes things can get buried in your closet and you can honestly forget they are even there. A clothing rack (mine is from Home Depot and is $20) is a great way to put all of the pieces you want to wear for that season and give you inspiration for outfit ideas! Same with the shoe rack (this shoe rack is linked below, super easy to assemble, and only $14).

In order to create your own dreamy dressing room, first pick the style you are going for! I like light and airy, with a little bit of rustic charm to it--but you could totally do modern, romantic, industrial, pretty much whatever you can dream up! Secondly, LOOK AT WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE! Look around your apartment or house, in your closets, in your garage, wherever you might have random things lying around that you could use to dress up this area and make it more aesthetically pleasing. I found the actual rack in my basement (my husband was using it to put "gear" on it--whatever that means lol), I found the lantern in my garage, and the candle sticks I spray painted from black to a matte grey (tip: check out your local thrift store for candle sticks and baskets you could easily spray paint and make them look super cool for really inexpensive!). Thirdly, you need a full length mirror--very necessary for trying on your outfits to see how they look together! I got this one from Target for somewhere under $100, but you could honestly use just one of those cheap $10-20 ones and lean it against the wall or hang it. Next, put some baskets below the clothing rack to add some more interest and to throw in accessories (or more shoes). Finally, a cute rug to finish the area off and section it off (especially if it is in your bedroom). I hope you guys find this helpful! Send me pictures if you try it I seriously love seeing stuff like this! And if you need help let me know as well!

Wardrobe staple: Wide-leg pants

Hey guys! Today's post is going to be all about another wardrobe staple: a pair of wide-leg comfy pants! I love the look of dress pants and jumpsuits (definitely prefer them over dresses). I think you can make them look really casual or edgy and dressed up. Also, I am all about comfort and feeling good in my clothes, no matter what I am doing. I recently got these pants from H&M and am obsessed! Even though they may look like a statement piece, I really think these can go with a lot more outfits than you think. They are high-waisted, extremely flattering, pull on (how easy!), and have pockets (my favorite for putting my awkward hands ;) ). You can wear them in the summer/spring months dressed down with your favorite plain t-shirt knotted in the front or tank top and flip flops, add a denim jacket to go over out to dinner, or you can dress it up with a fitted body suit and your favorite heels or booties! I also think that these pants could go in the winter or fall with a blazer, cropped sweater or leather jacket. The stripes on the ones I bought are a pretty timeless print, so I honestly think that $24.99 is a total steal and will get so many wears over the next few years. I can only find them in black and this other striped print online, but if you want the ones I have I would suggest going to your local H&M in person. Hope you guys enjoyed this post! P.S. you could wear these with so many other colors, I just love my neutrals :)

Master Bedroom Inspiration

If you guys follow me on Instagram, I have mentioned a couple of times that we are painting our interior of our home right now. We bought our home about 3 years ago & at the time we painted it a darker tan color. It goes with all of the lodge-y woodwork in it, but made the house seem pretty dark overall. It was definitely time for a change! We also have put off finishing our master bedroom for so long, just because we are the only ones that see it, so it didn't really seem like a priority. Your master bedroom is such an important part of your house and for me, my overall calmness. When you wake up in a clean, bright room, it really sets the tone for the rest of the day! I love white bedding in bedrooms it just feels so airy and timeless (makes me feel like I am waking up in my favorite hotel room on vacation!). We aren't totally done (lighting & wall decor is next), but I wanted to share the progress and some reasonable priced bedroom furniture & decor. Also, why are King beds soooo much more expensive than queens!? We had such a hard time finding a really nice bed within our budget, but we finally found one we absolutely love and agreed on. We found ours at Walker's Furniture, but I linked some similar ones below! I hope you guys enjoyed this post :)

Classic & Affordable Designer Handbags

Hey guys! I thought I would share with you one of my favorite ways to dress up any outfit. I, like probably every other girl out there, LOVE designer handbags. I love the idea of a classic, well-made leather bag that you can wear with any outfit and make it look that much more expensive and put together! However, I don't think I can justify purchasing a $1000 + handbag (not saying that there is anything wrong with that, I just think about all of the other stuff I personally could do for $1000!). Plus, it would totally blow the thrill of bargain shopping :) I usually will treat myself to one "designer" handbag a year...But when I say designer I am talking Kate Spade, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Rebecca Minkoff or Vince Camuto. Some of those bags can still be $300 or so, which still is a little steep for that kind of purse in my opinion. So, I decided to include 30+ "designer" handbags for under $170. These are all really good quality, will last you a long time, are in neutral colors so that you can wear them with any outfit, and are all classic styles. One of the things I look for when buying handbags is a cross body strap, just because I find it the most comfortable with my lifestyle. Choose a hardware color that matches your wardrobe (I like to personally have one purse with gold hardware and one with silver). I also love using inspiration from my favorite high-end designer bags. The one I recently got  has a really similar shape to the Givenchy Antigona bag and I listed a bunch of them that are inspired by Chloe, Gucci & Celine bags. I hope you guys found this helpful and that there is something for everyone :) Also, these would make great gifts for Christmas or birthday's so make sure you come back! If you are someone that likes going in person to shop, my favorite places to find affordable designer handbags are: Nordstrom (always check on their sales!), Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx, Macy's and Marshall's.

BEST SUMMER CLOTHING PIECE: JUMPSUITS

This has been my favorite clothing item for summer for the past few years and I don't think I will ever get sick of it. You can go cozy/lounge-y or dressy and the best part is that it is one piece (you might feel like you have to literally strip down to go to the bathroom, but so worth it!) I have never been a big "dress" kind of girl, and jumpsuits are just so much more fun and more my style. I find that they are really flattering and elongate your legs (obviously the culotte style not so much, but still really cute and fun!). I usually find that the best places to shop for affordable jumpsuits in person are Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx, Marshall's, Ross and Forever 21. If you are more of an online shopper check out all of the cute and affordable ones I linked below. They are all under $40! My tip: if you are on a budget go for a solid color, that way you can style it with a bunch of different accessories & get more use out of it! I loooveee my floral one, but it is so specific that I have only worn it 2x in the last year because there aren't as many ways to make it look different.

Easy Spring and Summer Outfits from 2 main pieces: Boyfriend Jeans & Reversible Belt

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't posted in a while! Anyways, I wanted to share with you guys another easy outfit. I love having pieces that I can mix and match and wear every day, while not looking like I am wearing the same thing (kind of like a capsule wardrobe, but let's be real I have way too much crap to actually call my wardrobe a capsule wardrobe). I was recently inspired by my beautiful best friend (in the above picture on the left) when she came to visit and was wearing the cutest pair of boyfriend jeans! I always thought boyfriend jeans would look messy on me because I have a more curvy bottom, but I am seriously obsessed!I love that you can wear them in hotter weather because they have rips and are more flowy (so you can actually breathe). I actually got this pair from Plato's Closet (but they were originally from one of my favorite stores, Target. I ended up getting them for around $6.20, which is crazy and I can't find that good of a deal online for you guys, but if you aren't opposed to buying used jeans or digging around when you shop you should try your local Plato's because I find a lot of my jeans there for super inexpensive! You can never go wrong with American Eagle so I included a bunch of jeans from there along with Target and Forever21. The point is, find a pair of boyfriend jeans you LOVE the fit of and you can wear them all Spring and Summer a bunch of different ways (and probably most of the year). The other staple piece of my outfits is this really nice, minimalistic black/white reversible belt from Target. It has simple silver hardware and it honestly looks like it would be $50 or so, but it's only $14.99. The buckle actually has that magnetic mechanism that you pull and twist around to fully reverse the belt (definitely not just a cheap flip over). I couldn't find it on the Target website, so try going into the actual store to look! Since I couldn't find it I linked a few cute alternatives below as well and I think you guys will like it because it just polishes up the jeans a little bit since they are a bit baggy and destroyed. Finally, pick your favorite basic (or not) fitted tops  and tuck them in (or you can wear a plain body suit), throw on a pair of sandals, booties or wedges and you have a super easy and cute outfit! My favorite is a basic tank top (like the $3 ones from Old Navy or Forever 21) or body suit and a cute pair of booties :) P.S. all of these tops I got from Ross for under $7. Ross doesn't have a shopable website so I couldn't link them, but if you are on a serious budget go check out Ross for basic body suits and tanks, they may not be the best quality, but for stuff like that I always have good luck there (especially for something like this pink ruffle body suit that I don't know if I will wear next year, ya know?)

SANDALS FOR SPRING AND SUMMER

Hey guys! It's finally starting to get nice out where I live and I wanted to share some of my favorite styles of sandals with you so you can snag them up easily :) I am always about comfort and purchasing things that I can rewear with multiple different outfits and wanted to share some shoes with you guys that you can style a few different ways. I have been really loving flat slide sandals lately. They feel like you are wearing slippers and I highly recommend picking up a pair! I love the look of a cozy t-shirt or tank with distressed jeans and either my Adidas slides or a pair of faux fur ones. I linked a couple of super cute ones that are (as always) very affordable--I need those light pink Adidas ones next! Another one of my favorite trends is a sandal that wraps around your ankle. I included a bunch of flat versions and heeled versions. The Merona ones from Target that are light denim are seriously so adorable on! I tried them on last week and they are definitely on my list of things I want to buy next :) A few more trends that I have been loving are: mules, caged booties, gladiators with a white athletic sole and tassels! I hope you guys found this helpful and find a pair below that you love!
